When the mirage lights first enter the color changing sequence, they scroll through the color spectrum once rather quickly(a few seconds) then they enter the slow color changing sequence. You can quickly flip the switch and select a color at any time(1st or 2nd sequence).... This all happens AFTER you first turn them on and they ramp up through the white brightness.
Are these lights plug and play for replacement radar arch lights on a 2005 342? Same for the single light on the swim platform? Also, I do not have any lights under the swim platform but would like to install 2 of these there. Are these ok for that? Was thinking about wiring all the swim platform lights to one switch and the overhead arch lights to another switch.
They are direct replacements for the radar arch lights (spreader lights) and stern light. They are not good for under the swim deck. They do not have a waterproof connection.
I put a pair of Lumitec 4 color LEDs in the arch last season. If anything I'd say they're too bright. But it's nice that there is no need for any control changes. They switch using the existing on/off switch.
Stodge I installed the Lumitec 3 color lights in all the courtesy and arch lights in the cockpit a while back. I agree that they are quite bright. I think I got the tip from the old site but I went to a vinyl sign shop and had circles cut out the same size as the lens of the light. I don't recall the exact name of the material, it was an opaque 3M product. I think he charged me $20 for a sheet of 100. I put 5 or 6 of these over the lights and it dulls the lights enough so that you can look right at them.
Hmmmm, interesting thought Golfdog, but I like having the white lights bright enough to see what I'm doing when I need them. I still have a roll of strip light to put in the engine compartment. Can never have enough light down then when you're looking around.
Just ordered a spare trilight for the cockpit. I had a spare but I'm going to install it in the transom on the swim platform. I'll be able to match three colors to the underwater lights. If I run both sets of underwater LEDs on blue and the 4 cockpit and swim light on blue too, or red, or white it should look cool!.....waiting for summer.
