There are a few in the DC area, but none with the 496.

There are a few in Pittsburgh. I know of one with a genset, but not sure if it has the big block.

I grew up boating on Table Rock lake, family still has two houses there.  Went to Missouri State University.  I will reach out to a few people I know there and see if anyone knows of a 270.

.....get the big block if you can, you'd never regret doing that - imo......or mercury is once again offering remanufactured 350s that have been stroked to 383s that come with a one or two year warranty. Those little bu**ers are really tough. If you found a 270 with a 350 that was a bit tired, for a good price you could even have a 383 built for a decent price.

Hi trip_n - I've got an 04 270 FV w/350 Mag on Bull Shoals. Bought it a couple of years ago and brought it down from LOTO. We've considered selling due to a possible job relocation. It gets up and goes fine, runs strong, has a gen and the camper, is really clean. We love the crap out of it.  Don't know if this is too old for you and don't really know the hours since the guy before me replaced the meter, but we have all his maintenance records, etc. Guessing 7-800 hours.  Has its trailer but is in our slip on a lift, dock boxes etc. Slip is paid thru next Oct. What else you wanna know?

The 270 that I posted has the big block and a genset. It wouldn't be that bad of a tow from Pittsburgh to Missouri.

My old dock neighbor has his 270 for sale, just chatted with him yesterday.  I'll have to check on the genny and price.

Whats the obsession over a 270? Not being a smartass at all. Just wondering why the 270?

Cableguy - the boat is located in a slip in Wabasha, MN on the Mississippi River. I'm the second owner and it has always been a freshwater boat.

@trip_n, this 270 is still for sale. I had heard that he sold it, but I guess not. It is located outside of Pittsburgh.

You're welcome. I thought it hit all of the points that you mentioned above. Good luck with your search... There is a 2008 280EC that is posted on the Facebook page. It has a 496, low hours, but no genset. It doesn't have a trailer either...

Congrats on the new boat. I hope you have a pet monkey to help work on the front of that engine. LOL. BTW, I would love to have a big block in my 280EC.

a pet monkey always comes in handy...
i was wondering..the engine hatch only goes so far electrically...then it can be un hooked and raised all the way by hand...is there another or easier way
  • Options
    JonnyMJonnyM Member Posts: 302 ✭✭✭
No, there is no easier way unfortunately.  Make sure you secure the hatch open if you have it up with out the pin.  It can fall shut on you if not secured.
