Steering Tiller Arm Replacement

Hi,
First timer here.... 01 270 vee, The tiller arm has slowly been getting worse. I normally do my own basics work, risers, manifolds, tune-ups etc. right on the lift. After watching the JR Marine video installing this kit seems above my pay grade and I am going to hire it done.
My questions are for anybody that has done this....1-Does it last? 2-Does it stay sealed? 3-While it is apart what other parts should be inspected/changed?
Any help would be great

Search this forum for steering shaft you will find all the needed Infos. I did mine (2) so far so good make sure you used stainless steel shaft. Good time to check Gimbal bearing all bellows, do motor alignement. Lot easier if you have access to some special tools.

Thank you frenchship...I did find a good thread and thanks Dream-Inn, although a different reason same fix required. Depending on the estimates I get, they will determine whether or not I attempt this myself.  Glad to have found this site.

Hey Handyman, That is so awesome of you offer.....so awesome! With my situation of no trailer and a drive across the harbor to PG Marina for an estimate Sat morning and another estimate coming on Tuesday I am going to wait for #s to make a decision. If I decide to tackle it I will get a hold of you. I am in CC quite a bit and we are around Caya Costa a lot.  Thanks again.

There is a self serve boat yard where they pull it out and put it on blocks for you. I think it's up the Peace river and thru a lock.
