ok-pretty nervous now to drill a hole through my out drive-drilling a new hole/thread for a grounding wire. Looks like about a 3/16 size screw so I'm thinking a #10 with a 24 thread? Its pretty thick there, maybe 3/4 inch and the other went all the way through which kind of surprised me....I will however drill! what do you think about the 24, I'd think 32 to fine a thread? I sure don't want to drill more that one hole for this repair!

I looked again, it's only about 3/16 max thick so will use a 10-32 thread....

I'm sure all good advice, I have limited time to get this done to put in the water for the weekend. I know I can drill and tap a hole. I don't know that I can get it out, there is plenty of room to add another hole. This is a SS threaded stud STUCK to where I twisted the head off, I have to go with more possible successful results- is not going to hurt a thing.
