New chrome engine compartment vents

It's been mild in south jersey this week so I thought I'd replace those ugly brittle vent covers with new plastic chrome vents. Not sure how durable they'll be, I dislike plastic chrome but these aren't really in direct sunlight and are fairly inexpensive. I purchased them from redden marine supply . They were 37.50 with shipping. Replaced the vinyl 4" flex hose also. Question: i replaced hose with a silver plastic dryer vent hose i bought from lowes, any issues with doing this as far as safety?
