Moderators - Forum response/replies

With this Forum, am I suppose to receive email notifications when someone replies to my posts.
As currently I have to keep checking every few days if there any replies, where as with most other forums I receive emails.

@rinkerboy, sometimes it takes a bit of time for the guys here to reply as they check things and ponder the situation in question - before they reply. Good news, you get great suggestions unlike some of the lame ideas I have read on other forums! Don't despair you'll get lots of feedback!

Other forums I belong to also email notification when a PM is sent or when someone has posted to one of my discussions. I check this forum daily so I usually see if there is a PM or if someone added to one of my posts.

On this forum a PM  will show-up on your profile as a red number/flag - works well for me. I love this forum and hats off to the Moderators for a superb job!!!!!

But what I think Rinkerboy is getting at is that he checks his email everyday and only gets time every so often to check the forum.

For some reason the Vanilla forum does not send e-mails even though they ask for a e-mail address. I have looked into this but the moderators are very limited in what we can do. I will see if I can investigate this and come up with something.

Yes, I've looked into it as well but hadn't figured out anything.  & as Raybo mentioned, we are very limited in what we can do here.

I'm a moderator on another boating site that uses different software for the board and the same thing applies there.  Mods can do a little, admins can do it all.

Yes the moderators can only erase a comment if THEY dont like it regardless of the truth.

Spot on.
In Account Options, you are asked with the option of notification yes/no. But it don't work.

"Notification	Email	Popup
Notify me when people write on my wall.
Notify me when people reply to my wall comments.
Notify me when people comment on my discussions."

Quick update. I reached out to Vanilla Forums and they could not help me because I am not the Rinker Support Manager (in charge of the forum). I have spoken to someone from Rinker about 2 months ago but have not heard back from them.

So is anyone a moderator, or in management of this forum? Is capt steve still around? I can see no one answers for Rinker. It's running it self!

No not anyone is a moderator there are only 4. Rinker has 3 administrators Capt Steve is gone and it looks like Capt Jeff is gone also.  Capt Jeff is still a administrator but has not logged on in a year.

Thanks for responding. Now I see you are one, just caught it to the right of your name, better watch what I say to you, LOL, I'm sure its a highly paid position. So what do you watch out for? learned a lot so far, usefull tips along with some BS, which is fun, for the most boaters are good people. Been boating 40 +,

Ya, cannot wait for Mt to move next door to handy! I can hear it now handy says you want to go for a boat ride this afternoon, Mt says ya sure mate, I'll bring Brats and beer, handy says ok I'll provde the chips and diesel fumes.

What part of Ohio?  I have family in columbus,  also worked in Cleveland for a while

Randy, originally from Northeast Ohio.  About 40 miles SE of Cleveland.  Really a depressed area and still the same when I go back for visits.  My wife has family there still, most of mine have left.
