Do you have AC? Do you have electronics that need clean power (pure sine wave). How many appliances will you want to run simultaneously? IMO Honda and Yahama make the best small, quiet and fuel efficient generators. both can be daisy chained and both have surge handling models for ACs and Microwaves. There are several forum members who have done fantastic after purchase installs of small generators. @frenchshipis one. He has posted pictures and details of his set-up. It is excellent IMO.
If you don't try to run any of those at the same time you can use a smaller generator. You will need to calculate the initial surge of your AC. There are plenty of small portable generators that should be great for you. Hopefully @frenchship will add comments as he has a lot of experience with this issue and did a neat custom install. I think a couple of the other guys did too!
I have the Ryobi generator for my 280EC. It will run the AC/Heat and the stove, but not at the same time. It is as quiet as the Honda for less money. Yamaha has come out with one as well, but I haven't seen any of them yet. The Ryobi, like the Honda, can be set up to run in parallel with a second unit. I am very happy with it.
