Hot water heater

Our water heater wasn't working when we bought our 242 last season, I installed a new Attwood 6 gallon water heater last week. My question is,how well does the engine heat the water? The marina we like to go to doesn't have electrical hook up so we will be running the engine to heat the water.

I know on my 342 the engine heats it very well.

Are you fresh water cooled or raw water cooled? My engine is raw water cooled.

My water heater is so hot I can not use hot with the faucet mid way between hot/cold, the water is really hot. Without using the water heater, the engines also make the water really hot and then the water is still hot for hours.

I agree with Boomer. My hot water is hotter from the engines than from the electric heater.

The electic element is set to 140*  the thermostate on the engine is rated to 160*  so the water heater can eventually reach and sometime exceed 160*   Al
