Projects of the day!

elarson5757elarson5757 Member Posts: 232 ✭✭
Marina finished up two more projects for me on my '07 246CC!  New set of Lenco trim tabs with the LED status control switch and a keel guard!  Where I do a lot of my boating everyone beaches on the sand bars...a little extra protection I figure although I had not experienced any scratching or wear yet after my first summer.  Had them mount it a bit higher as the sand bars are taller and tend to hit higher on the keel...

Interesting. I have never seen a keelguard... Be interested to see how it holds up this year.

My buddy has beached his boat every weekend on the same sand bars virtually every weekend all summer long for the last 7 years on his...got some scuffs and scratches in it but cannot see them without looking for them up close...it's a Megaware Keelguard and whatever the heII its made out of they have a lifetime replacement guarantee against abrasion...

Industrial 3M adhesive tape covers the entire back.

Looks great, nice & clean underneath. You'll really be amazed with the tabs. On the keel guard - many times I would have liked to beach ours but hesitate just for that reason. Prob a quick install too.

Install is very quick.  You tape off around the application area, scuff it up with a scotch brite pad a bit, wipe with acetone and apply when dry...maybe an hour if your anal like me.

Yea this is my first fiberglass boat with an I/O vs always having pontoons.  I'm not sure my marina/mechanic has enjoyed all my calls, questions, suggestions, and such.

Keel guards are very common on boats that live in lakes. They are very effective, and I've never seen anyone have an issue keeping one attached to the boat.

    Phase 1 complete:

-Trim Tabs installed along with control at the helm
    -Spring prep
-Replaced water pump with Hardin SS unit
-Replaced Cool Fuel parts per tech bulletin
-Replaced drive belt and did power steering pulley swap per bulletin
    -New plugs
    -Changed fuel filter/cool fuel screen
    -Installed Keel guard
-Repaired some skeg chips and painted

That was a quick $2k in parts and labor....

Dropped the boat for phase 2 stereo upgrades, and LED lights and a helm insert repair.

Also approved the drawing for my SeaDek!

Sun finally came out and I saw just how much buff and polish work I have to do when I get the boat back. It looks like heII...

I can't speak to if its an issue with a 2014 but I doubt it as it's an older bulletin. Your dealer can run your engine serial # and tell you.

There were parts of the cool fuel system that were painted and that paint was delaminating and getting into the fuel system.

Mine is a 2007. They use to paint the inside of the fuel cool module rather than powdercoat them. Over time the paint started to come off and get suck into the injectors causing damage. Now they powdercoat them to eliminate this problem. I pulled mine a couple weeks ago to take a look and everything is all good thank god. Take you about an hour to pull it and get it a quick inspection.  @imlovinit
