Im just about to but a new anchor for my 270 as I'm sure the previous owner put a cheap one on when selling it and under weight. It's only a 5kg and I'm thinking 7.5 - 10kg. What are you all using??

@russellh, so I think your 270FV is around 7500 pounds and 30 feet and change long? With its canvas up it would have a decent amount of windage so it would need a decent sized anchor. Of course the anchor design can change the holding power quite a bit and pure weight isn't always the n umber one factor. As well the length of chain can dramatically change how your anchor will perform. I would recommend at least 30 feet of chain. If using a Delta- type anchor that many Rinkers leave the factory with your boat should be fine in "normal" conditions with a 15 pound anchor but I would prefer a 22 pound - or 10Kg anchor if it were me. P.S. I should have asked - what weight is your windlass rated for and what size anchor is your bow roller rated for? I say that because too heavy an anchor can overheat the motor and trip the breaker. I think what leaves the Rinker factory for your boat will take a 10Kg anchor but I'd check before purchasing
@russelh and @ TW , yes I purchased the Delta SS and the Manson Supreme SS. The Manson is on the roller now and the delta is stored. Both are good all round anchors but of the two I prefer the Manson Supreme. ....
P.S. I should have added that Tony Walker's review of the Manson Supreme over a year ago sold me on its performance and Tony (as usual) was 100% on the money!

Mine looks just like the one pictured above- have not really used it under any heavy coastal/tidal situations but I think it should hold just fine....also will depend what your dropping your anchor in as well. And @handymans342, ya got to watch for those beds!
