Where is the amp on a 342?

hi there, I am buying a 2006 342 From a friend and it has the clarion M455 system that came with it. He has the book for the stereo amplefire but no idea where the amp is. Any idea where the amp is mounted?

On my 2003 342 the amp is under the vee berth. Mine is located under the plastic storage tub on the starboard side of the vee berth. There is a screw off access plate that will give you access to the amp. Removing the tub will give you full access.

Awesome! Thanks guys. None of the rear cockpit speakers including the sub are working. Remotes work but none of the 6 speakers so id like to check it out

These speakers are in a hostile environment so the become replacement items every few years.  I am on my second set (or maybe third?)

Thanks Tony, seems strange though that all 6 cockpit speakers and the cockpit sub put out no sound whatsoever. Has to be a wire or something somewhere.

I thought so too on mine, none worked......thought for sure amp was dead, but replaced speakers anyway first , for nicer looking ones, .......works fine, all 4 were dead.Or also, one dead and shorted , may put amp in protect mode

Agreed. Those speakers in the cockpit can go bad.

Do any of you guys think that up in the bow is not a good place for the amps? Don't they get more pounding there than further back in the boat....and closer to the batteries. In my former 360 the amp was under the electrical panel towards the aft where the ride is a lot smoother.

Bit of a toss up. Closer to the batteries is nice for the power run, close to the head unit better for connections and sound quality.

Speaker issue ended up being an incorrect connection at the head unit when the previous owner changed out head units. All good.
