Just curious if you guys boat with them flying or jut put them up while anchored? I put mine up on the bow only when anchored or puting around. I Was thinking of putting one on my antenna with these spring clips, anyone use Them?

Also allways fly American flag.

I had a pirate flag on mine but the wind tore it apart....you have that problem with gassers @Handymans342

I only fly the flags when I am on the boat whether anchored, underway or at port.  When I leave the boat for the week I tuck them away.  On the stern I fly a Betsy Ross american flag with an anchor in the middle.  Bow I have my last name in Nautical letters that someone custom made for me.  I worry about it tearing though...

I leave mine up all season:  a yacht club burgee at the bow, plus a Yacht Ensign and Past Commodore flag at the stern.  

With all that time zipping around at 35 mph, they never last more than a year.  I consider them consumables.

@aero3113, on my 342 I flew my flags from the antenna mast.  To be honest, the flapping noise right there above my head was borderline obnoxious, but I like flags.

My anchor light comes off my radar mount on top of the radar arch... Had a new SS anchor light made with SS welded flag mount loops... Bought a new Yacht Ensign flag to fly all season. New one on top, old on bottom.

Diggin where did you have that made? I am looking for the exact same thing.

Way back in August of 2010.  Brisk wind on Lake Erie during our trip from Grosse Ile MI at the bottom of the Detroit River on our way to Put-in-Bay aboard our Salt Shaker.

@aero3113, great burgee of your dog. this is one we had custom made of our Siamese cat Coco with our initials JMT. We flew it at all times from the top (almost) of our VHF antenna, to honor Coco. Unfortunately, I no longer have a boat as it has been sold and I no longer have Coco as he presides over the sunroom from his box (of ashes)...but both were awesome in their day....so great feelings all 'round.

BTW @aero3113....I like your color choice :-) ....elegant!

BTW 2....canvas all down, open hard top, twin 502s I -  could never hear a flag flapping LOL.

Aero- I shipped it to a friend in PA that does stainless welding.

Tried those clips not impressed didn't seem to hold wel. Old glory always flying on mine.

The VHF was so narrow that none of the standard clips worked so I used the mini zip ties and criss crossed two on each grommet to stop the flag from coming off.

I never liked what the flags do to the VHF antenna while underway. Bends them way too much. See guys at my marina with flags on the antenna, would never do it to my boat.

.....depends on the VHF antenna. I happen to have a good quality one. Hardly bends at 40 mph....not really even noticeable.

Probably 70% of the guys in the 10 marinas near me have some sort of flag or burgee on their VHF - although most of the VHF "flags" are triangular burgees.

Speaking of triangle shaped - in case you wonder why my "flag" was triangle shaped. That was by design. Statistics show that having it shaped in that fashion reduces the amount of stress on the carrier pole (or in my case the VHF antenna) by 80%. .....you guys know I do my homework, right? LOL

This is a custom made radar mount light I created a couple years back. Just going to use the Charlevoix Clips to attach my flag. FYI - I do fly my American Yacht Ensign up there. which is stored on my Rinker which is at the shop so I took the pic with the next best thing.

That's very interesting and makes sense MT.  Next flag I buy just might have to be triangular
