Does anyone have any recommendations of companies who will do hardwood/fake hardwood cabin floors on the chesapeake bay? preferably mid to northern bay?
We found a company to do the hardwood in the cabin and they finished the install today. I haven't seen it in person yet, but the install looks clean in the pics. I'll admit, there is more woodgrain than I expected from the sample, but I think it looks OK. I also have the cherry hardwood steps to install next trip down.
The floor looks great!!!! I am looking to do the same. How did they install--Glue? My concern is toward the bow where the hull comes up. I see they covered it with wood--the two companies I had said they would not touch that area and leave the carpet there.
they used a product that was more like a thick vinyl, than wood. it was able to be heated and curved. I think the manufacturer was moduleo? comes from europe. we were having a hard time finding something that we felt went well with the wood in the cabin. this having such variation made sure that it would match to an extent. the ripped up the floor, sanded it, put a leveler down to smooth it out and then glued in place.
it is shocking the options for "wood" floors now. they are even 3-4" planks, that interlock together, much like a real wood floor would be installed. but it won't have any issues with water, scratching or rot.
