@jaubry, what a beautiful boat! Some lucky owner will benefit from all of the care you have taken of her over the years!
If one of our American boating brothers expresses interest in your boat I can provide the name of a local Canadian surveyor who is considered one of the best in Canada and an acknowledged expert regarding Rinkers as he has been on several hundred. He surveyed mine prior to its sale. The idea would be for him to survey your boat for the American bank. This man has his international Captains licence and more qualifications than I have ever come across.
I can also provide the name of an American documents specialist, who lives in Florida, who was enormously helpful in preparing cross border documents. She has been in business for 30 years, carries one million dollars of professional liability insurance, is very intelligent and has - IMO - forgotten more about boat documentation that most of her colleagues presently know!
Finally I would recommend - to ensure the peace of mind of any American bank worried about exchange rate fluctuations - that you accept the funds in American dollars and convert them to Canadian dollars once they have arrived in Canada via wire transfer.
Also, I found out after I had my investment firm give me a decent exchange rate that there is a specialty exchange rate firm in Toronto, Canada - whose name I can provide for you to investigate - who will give extremely competitive rates with larger sums of money.
I have become somewhat knowledgeable regarding Canadian/American cross border sales of boats and would be happy to help you or any forum member with the basic steps to follow to avoid pit falls.
As for my American boating brothers - I would sure look at Canadian boats for sale as your dollar still gives you a very favorable buying advantage and economic analysts in Canada predict that your dollar will, with time, improve even more.
Paul, Je suis au retour au etude pour mon MBA et je doit concentrer mes effort. Donc le bateau n'est pas une priorité. Ce n'est pas juste de le laisser sur les blocs, donc je vais voir comment est le marché.
@DI, jaubry's priorities have changed. He has returned to his studies. He is on his way to an MBA and has to concentrate his efforts on that. Therefore, the boat is no longer a priority. It's not fair to leave his "baby" on blocks....so she has to go!
