2006 270 Nylon sink bushing - Found info in comments

I have a sink hook up for the bathroom that someone spent a lot of time 'rigging' so that it wouldn't leak (black electrical tape on the threads, silicone no leak bonding tape around everything) that has started to leak (surprise). It looks like there is a nylon bushing that they stripped out that is 3/8 to 1/2. It looks like it used to have a o ring on the 3/8 side (I have not taken apart the other side yet to confirm). The 3/8 side is what screws into the stainless line to the sink and the pex end point screws into the 1/2 side. All of the 3/8 - 1/2 Nylon bushing I find don't seem to have any where that a O ring would sit. Any thoughts on this or where I can find a replacement bushing?
Something like this would work http://hosewarehouse.com/THB42-Dixon-Tuff-Lite-Nylon-Reducing-Bushing-1-2-Male-NPT-x-1-4-Female-NPT except it doesn't appears to have the spot for the o ring, and with the acorn design of the stainless still fitting I'm thinking I will need the o ring.
Thanks in advance for your help!

The side that screws into the faucet is BSP (British threads!)
