Usually the reason for diesel engine oil is the high zddp (zinc) additive. I have same set up and run Mobil-1, I like synthetics.

Wild, I have 55 bucks worth of oil and filter a guy in a shop recommended me in my garage- ended up going down to merc and got the factory stuff. There is a guy somewhere at merc, slide rule and black horned rim glasses, that has made a living figuring out what these motors should run on. 25 bucks for the stuff in my garage, I'll pay shipping?

Mercruiser semi synthetic if you have catalytic converters as it is specially formulated for the bricks in their catalytic converters and their high efficiency oil filter.

If I didn't have catalytic converters on my engine I'd run Mercruiser full synthetic and Mercruiser high efficiency oil filters.

Half way through the season I remove my oil filters and top-up the oil level for added insurance.

Then just have fun with those Mercruiser(s)!
