I've been boating for a few years now and I have a dumb question....I have a 2005 captiva 212 xr1 350mpi, why does it seem to blow exhaust air between lower end and boat at idle and out of prop while moving? does it do that when lowerend is tilted up too? please explain what I am looking at.... ( I told you it was a dumb question).

Hahaha I am lost on your question but the exhaust always comes out of your drive (bellow area) unless you have through hull exhaust.

You have a torn bellows....$20 part, however it's pain in the butt to change.

You may be seeing the exhaust gases "bubble up" around the drive when at idle , whether at slow forward speed or even when stopped. There is often a gurgling noise and some visible exhaust present. If that is the case it could be completely normal.

If as @partlowr suggests you have a torn bellows that would be easy to see.

P.S. no such thing as a dumb question (if it's sincere) because IMO anyone seeking information is already smart.
