Updating the Tvs area

Heres a couple  of photos of the updating of the TV area. I made a new work surface out of cherry and the back cabinet for mounting the new TV is being sprayed at the moment but will be finished in a couple of days when the lacquer has dried.  I've got to say I am very happy with the match I got for the cherry in fact it looks factory installed. I have used 12mm cherry Ply  and glued to pieces together and edged it to make the worksurface. I'll put some photos up of the finished job soon2mm

That sure does match perfectly!  I have a cabinet that I removed the TV off the front and replace with another.  It now shows a couple small holes (for a couple years now).  If I could actually replace the entire door to look that good!

How will you hide the wire side?

Very nice. I'd be tempted to move those wires behind the panel on the right and then cover with similar vinyl.  Apparently 3M makes a glue spray that will help you apply the vinyl covering.

The wires will be hidden behind the new TV cabinet below.  Just waiting for the lacquer to dry

The secondary panel is a good size access panel which is smaller than the TV so won't really be seen. That way I can access all the cabal ing when I need easier than before

Where did you get the 12 mm cherry ply ? Is it vineer or solid. ? Vineer I assume

@russellh woodwork looks great, how are you going to handle the trim there on the inside of the hull? I don't have enough room to put my stereo crap below...have an amp there and a cd changer....really don't want to move all that stuff but curious how you plan to finish that side wall...

You'll see in a few days. Basically it will all be hidden by the back board of the tv. I will have room below the tv for stereo plug sockets etc. I'm away working till Monday but will then go down to the boat and instal the Tv unit and Tv and post some pics

I don't have AC Stereo will go below the Tv with a USB port

Yeah it's pot luck with the grain and when you order the sheet you get what your given. Looks a better match in the flesh so to speak. I'll wire the tv in tomorrow and take some pics

I don't understand the hole. Why not a solid piece and mount TV bracket to it? Personally I will never have a TV on my boat. So much else to do. Just sayin. LOL
