2003 Fiesta Vee 270 Air Conditioner

I am new to this boat, I don't have any manuals and I wanted to ask if anyone had info on the Air Conditioner, diagrams, startup, use , winterizing, ect. I specifically wanted to know what I should check on it this year for the first time start up, any valves or things to check and where they are located. Any info will be appreciated.

Also, make sure the seacock is open for proper water flow.  You may have a separate breaker for the pump as well that will need to be turned on.

as long as it is working, not much really to do other than to make sure the sea valve is open then turn it on. You have a filter in the mid ship berth which needs to be cleaned. I cleaned mine when I first picked up our 05 270 3 years ago and it was clean as a whistle.  Not sure there is really any other maintenance to do on it. These are more heat exchangers and not A/C like in your house...

I believe the blower motor has 2 oil ports

The seacock for the A/C unit should be in the aft cabin under the mattress just behind the steps. In theory, you should be able to splash the boat and turn on the A/C and it works. I know that is all I had to do with mine. Make sure the filter is clean on the return air part of the unit.

On a side note, where are you docked at? I am a Pittsburgh guy myself. There are a few of us on here.

I haven't been able to just splash the boat and have the A/C work for me... Always needed to take boat for a quick trip(I guess to prime it) before A/C would start pumping water.

yep, lots of good info and make sure you look in the archives as well, I don't think that info shows up when you search the top of the page...I had a bad controller on mine and these guys walked me through it!

@diggin2day1 do you close the seacock before the boat gets hauled?  With mine if I forget to shut the seacock before the boat leaves the water I have to prime it.  If I remember to close it, I have no issues when I splash.  I learned this when I was on a lift.

I only haul it out of the water in the fall for her winter nap.... I leave seacock open and reverse pump some antifreeze through.

06Rinker270 - when you say haul out, do you winterize? If so, those lines need to be emptied.

I keep mine open when we haul and the system drains.  I normally don't have any issues getting prime when I splash her, and drive over to my slip.

I guess I was more referring to just hauling it out, not for winter.  Every time I put my boat on the lift I had to shut the valve or I would have to prime.  Yes system gets winterized.  This year I just fired the AC up and worked great, no prime.  Wondering why that was now that I come to think of it.  On lift during season, like clockwork, had to prime if I forgot to close valve.  This spring I launched, valve must have stayed opened as you say on the hard, no prime necessary unless the slow drive to slip did it.  The valve must stay open even after its been winterized?

I have always left the valves (3) open after winterization, although theoretically the entire system should be full of AF so why not close them? Good question.

@SteelersTNT There is a first page post about air conditioning it probably applies to your year as well.  Mine's a 2002.

Seacock will be under the aft cabin sump under the cushion.

How do you gain access to the unit in the fv 270??
