Hatch actuator greasing

for those who have struggled with regreasing your actuator, I cobbled up a solution with a length of grease gun hose and hydraulic fittings plus the fittings for a gun and the actuator. Now I just leave it in place.

Great idea! If those actuators fail it is harder than most think to get at the release pin!

Would Bel Ray waterproof marine grease be a suitable lube for the actuator? If not, what do you use?

Well, I guess have something similar to BD, but I leave the long hose on my grease gun to use in multiple tough places (like drive coupler).  But nice idea BD!

Oh, & yes MT!  I've had to get to my pin 2 separate times, not fun!

Grease fitting on the actuator, yes.

Do you just put a couple of pumps of grease in there?

Yup, just needs a few pumps of grease.  For what it does, just use a quality chassis/bearing grease.

Interesting. On my 360 the lift is much further forward. Basically aligned with the front of the engines. I have no problem putting a grease gun in there or getting at the pin. It's great idea though.

can't reach it from the table mount unless you have 3' skinny arms with no elbow:)

Great idea!   I will see if another shot of grease helps out. I did grease it last year as well.   Anyhow, i noticed that your bilge has water in the center.  Mine does as well, do all the 342's

@wildboating. I get rain water and some from the transom if is swamped hard from coming off plane. I usually wet vac it out. All my blower vent tubes lead to the bilge area, so straight path from the air vents.

Is a grease gun a grease gun?  so if I run into home depot or an Autozone and get a basic grease gun and chassis grease.. would that do the trick?

Yes. Edit.....but if you're going to do that, get one wirh a flex hose as stated and get a decent EP grease rates for marine use and you can also use it for your drive coupling and what not.

on my 330 , the actuator is a LENCO unit which has no grease fittings.
