The MT/KS Engine Up-Grade

If you read my report of the conversation I had with Rinker exec. Steve Wheatley you know that I mentioned Kim Slocum used to love modifying Rinkers.

Here are a couple of pictures from a picture album that go waaaay back.

One is a picture of the rear end of my Rinker 190. This was an entry level Rinker bow rider that Kim gave me the blessing to drop a big engine into.

He was sure the hull could take it. Boy, was he right. That little Rinker was built so well that it took the installation of a 383 at 390HP and Bravo 1.....easily! A 70 MPH on GPS boat.

P.S. Note the drive shower. It was one of the first ninstalled in the area. The B1 really needed it at 70MPH.

The other two are of the 383 on the dyno stand getting dialed-in.

Some of the older guys on the forum have seen these but for you newer guys.....

This "experiment" (and boy was that boat fun to run) proves to me the incredible strength of Rinker Hulls (way above necessary specs.) even for an entry level hull.

Rinkers, IMO, toughest hulls anywhere!

Cheers! MT
