Tinker 270 FV with Volvo engine and out drive no forward or reverse

When we left the dock we had both forward and reverse. We went to the fuel station and when I started to dock I discovered that forward and reverse were both forward. We went out into more open water and I worked with shifter only to loose both forward and reverse. I shut down once and worked the shift lever and got forward back only to be stupid enough to try reverse again and lost everything for good. Had to tow back to dock.

Maybe check to see if your shift cable came disconnected in the engine compartment?
