I disagree Al, I LOVE my built-in swim platform on my 276. No holes in the transom, much better looks, and they didnt count the platform in the "length" of the boat. My 276 is 27.5" hull length and 29' overall with the platform. Most manufacturers would have called it a 290....

Yup, molded in swim platform and/or anchor pulpit are counted as the length on the title. Bolted on: not. Now a marina will want total lenght overall...$$$. lol
Interesting story: My club bill's by LOA however they said they will measure outboards down (instead of up like everyone does) but want to charge me one and half feet for my anchor. I said OK if outboards are measured down then I will put my anchor in the water......LOL Didn't work out to good for me........LOL 38,6 its....

Joe I understand but the 276 is much shorter than a 272. Not nearly as much room Molded in platforms are past designs. Most other manufactures are going back to bolt on platforms Rinker needs a 212 and a 232. Plain and simple.
I respectfully disagree AL. I've been a 272, it's definitely not larger than the 276 in length or beam. Cockpit layout isn't as well planned imo either. The 282 is probably a different story.
I have a question I'm betting @alswagg can answer. On my 400, there is a port window (on port side around galley area) that is just a "dummy". What is the reason they put this window in. It doesn't go anywhere to the inside.
FYI. 272 and 282 are the exact same hull mold. No differance at all. 282 has a bolted on platform with aft seat 272 has a molded in platform no aft seat the decks are the only differance. Running surface is exactly the same. Exception One remaining prototype on Lake Wawasee
We'll I stand corrected on the 282, so they did the same with the 276 and 296, same hull different layouts. The 276 is 9'1" beam and 27.5' running length. What was the 272?
Definitely NOT the same boat. Very different cockpit configurations for the CCs and still quite different cockpit configurations (walk throughs) for the BRs.

So is the wooden hull model used for visualization and design, or do they use it to create the actual hull molds?

You 100% sure on that, from what I can remember the specs were almost identical. I could def be wrong though.
276: Length 28'11", Beam 9', Weight BR 5765lbs CC 5965 lbs , deadrise 21 degrees, 10 gallons water, 75 gallons fuel
296: length 30' 10", Beam 9', Weight BR 6220 lbs CC 6820 lbs Deadrise 21 degrees, 10 gallons water + 27 gallons waste water, 100 gallons fuel
