MarineAir Conditioner Fan is coming apart...

So, now this week it is my fan.. More specifically the blower fan on the actual AC unit that blows the air sounds like it has came in contact with the internal shroud.  It is annoying and getting louder.  I have a week long trip coming up and the possibility of losing air would not be good at all.

Does anyone know anything about repairing the blades or what would cause this?  Is there a place i can order a new fan to bolt on to compressor?  So far not getting much info back on the internet.

Disconnect that flex hose and look inside.

Are you sure the bearings aren't starting to go on the actual blower motor? On one of your pictures, it says to oil. I would oil the motor up first and see if helps at all. Then go with a fan. Definitely was easier and less pain to just replace the whole fan if needed.

That is something the fan is hitting. Not a bearing noise IMHO

Maybe the bracket for the motor broke and in turn dropped the assembly. Who knows. On the bright side, your whole unit looks to be easily accessible. On my 280, it is tucked back behind the starboard wall in the aft cabin. Can barely see the **** thing lol

Jme,  I was shocked to see the fan motor says oil every 6 months.  I bet it has never been oiled.

I do agree with handy, it seems the fan is hitting something.  I will start tearing it apart later today.

Anyone ever oil one? What oil do you use? Where does it go?

It says to use SAE 20.  I will post back where when I find it. B

Basically 3 in 1 oil 

Do not use an oil with EP/AW ratings, teflon, or any additives. Those will clog up the motor bushing and ruin it.

@Black_Diamond I see that 3 in 1 has an sae 20 product. Is that required or will standard 3 in 1 be just fine?

Standard 3&1 is perfect. And cheap!

Bearing in fan assembly is gone.  Fan is wobbling and causing vibrations.   Anyone know where to get new blower?

www.grainger.com. That would explain the wheel hitting the fan enclosure. Try Ebay too

Why don't you just replace the bearing?

It doesn't appear to be replaceable.  I ordered a new one, darn thing was $270..... Supposedly it is a new style high velocity fan that is supposed to be stronger than the old one.  We will see.

Interesting- came to the boat with a small bottle of the sae 20, 3 in 1 oil ($3 delivered from Amazon) all ready to oil the fan as preventative maintenance. To my surprise, no notice on my fan to oil and no oil ports. Looks like between 2003 and 2006 Airrrrrrrrrr switched from Taylor to a  dometic fan that doesn't need oiled? Here is my label:

Bronze / Oilite bushings in these motors will never make noise. Once they wear enough the motor shaft will have additional radial clearance and vibration, part interference and eventually the rotor and windings will contact.
