I have an "L" bracket that is leaking. I tried to use Teflon tape but it's still leaking. Should I use more tape or do I need to buy a whole new bracket?
Just in case you need to replace the fittings, those are "Flair It" fittings. Amazon and Ebay is where I get them mostly. I have had success using pex tubing as opposed the polybutylene tubing that you can get from Lowes or HD. Maybe Handymans342 idea will work too, but in case you have to replace any items as well you know some more about it.
The water leaking out looks like nasty water or oil. Last time I had a flair it leak I spent an hour taping, cutting off the end of the pex, re screwing, and then realized there was a hairline crack in the fitting that I could barely see and that was the leak location. So make sure that there is not a air line crack before you spend too much time on it. Our local hardware store near the marina had a full line of flair it's in stock.
These fittings work by compressing the inner wall of the tubing to the outer wall of the fitting. The threads serve to compress the two pieces together.. The threads do not form the seal and therefore teflon tape will not help. If anything teflon tape may prevent the fitting from sealing properly. I get these fittings (and tubing) from a local RV dealer. You may not have enough tubing length to cut and reconnect so consider replacing the short length of tubing. I'll add a link to show how these fittings connect. FWIW, I also added a Jabsco accumulator tank and my pump runs less often.
Before you cut the line look at the rubber o rings in the fitting. If there shot you will definitely need a new fitting. I just replaced my faucet and couldn't reuse them because the o rings were damaged.
