Anyone deck out their 270 for fishing?

I'd like to utilize 2 downriggers, but the Admiral doesn't want any drilling or hardware to show.  So no mount plates ect...

They sell railing mounts but not sure if they would work on a 270.

If you plan on using a down rigger you'll need one that can pull a 12 lb weight (or bigger)  assuming you want to fish for salmon and trout. The torque would be way to much for my liking on a rail. 

I put a very conspicuous mount plate on my gunwale. If I take off the down rigger all that's left is a 1/4" aluminum plate that's hardly noticeable.

I have scotty rail mount units on my 300 fiesta vee, they work great. I use them for lake trout. I have electric downriggers with 10lb weights.

The rail mount transfers force to the gunwale via the wood spacer the kit uses. So the force is not totally on the stainless rails.

Its a good system if you dont want to drill into your boat

I'm a bit weary of the rail strength myself.  You guys think the railings on our boats are through bolted and have some kind of backer plates?  What's the true strength of the rails?

@F1100 - could you possibly post some pictures of the rail mounts on your 300?  I mean with them in place?

@reneechris14 how do you manage the downrigger?  Do you have to go onto the swim platform?
