Is that a drive shower on the drive? Again to me it looks like the boat was neglected. If something as obvious as the drives being neglected what about the engines? The genny? If someone does not take care of the outside then you know they didn't take care of the "inside". Something seems fishy here............ Just Say'n.....

For a 2002, I wouldn't even mess with the current drives. I'd just replace them. As mentioned, if the rest of the boat is good, then with new drives you'd be all set. Make sure when you get engines surveyed, the do a leak down test (not just a compression test). & as Raybo mentioned, look in every little area possible. I'm betting mold is growing in lots of places.
As far as price, I've seen really nice 342s (even newer) go for mid 40s. There are lots of them in my area.
Sorry for the delay in posting an update. We looked at the boat on Saturday. It was absolutely perfect as far as interior in the cabin and cockpit. No mold anywhere. No interior wet spots or fiberglass issues. Everything was spotless and looked as good as new. Engine compartment was super clean. Engines ran and sounded great and everything checked out on the Rinda Diacom. Generator fired right up and ran great under a load. Boat came out of the water great and ran a solid 30mph by the gps at roughly 3200 RPM. All electronics worked great.
Only issue (major issue) was when we were on the sea trial we looked behind while trying to see if the trim gauges were acting properly and noticed an "oil slick". Turns out the carrier seal on the port side drive decided to give way.
Owner has pulled the boat and is replacing the lower unit on the port. I have been offered the same price as prior with a new lower unit that comes with a warranty on the port side. My issue is the starboard side is likely in the same condition and will have the same issue soon.
We are in discussion with the broker, mechanic and owner to have the starboard side replaced on our dime while it is currently pulled which will actually save a few pennies on our side because we wont have to pay to pull the boat like we had originally anticipated and my mechanic quoted about $700 more for replacing the drive.
I have received a few new pictures of the drives from the broker and the lower units are the only thing showing much significant corrosion. The top part of the drives is really appearing to be mainly surface corrosion and the mechanic thinks it can be cleaned up and repainted.
