Fridge door color

2003 FV310. Prior owner seems to have spilled hot liquid down the front of the fridge as you can see staining that can't be removed. We were going to cover with a black vinyl - it's now black - but then looking at photos of other cabins I have seen black as well as the faux wood grain like the cabinetry. So the question is was the fridge originally the wood grain and the damage removed it and it's black under (and others have removed it too) or was it black to start with and others have just added the wood grain to match? If this was a stick on any suggestions of a source of it?

It depends on the fridge. The newer boats have Waeco/Dometic fridges and most of the doors are wood grain. The older boats have a different brand and the doors are black. If you can find an owners manual, or installation manual for your fridge, it should have the steps on how to remove the door panel. On my boat, I was able to change the hinge side of my cockpit fridge and I ordered a piece of brushed stainless to replace the white, now yellowed, door panel.

Just pop the top of the door off. Should be a removeable piece for that front. 1/4" thick. Either measure or get the LxW for the insert from the frig manual. Put in what you like!
