New flooring going down in 342

Decided to get that nasty ol carpet out of our 342 now that we have the engine issues worked out.  Today I ripped up the old carpet and brought in a bunch of samples.  I am kinda stuck right now, I love the contemporary look of the darker floors but as a former home owner with dark floors I know they show dirt like crazy.  The new boats hitting the market lately seem to be either very dark or really light.   Which color do you like?

FWIW...We had medium colored in our 310 and dark in our 360. I liked the dark best. I just asked the Admiral (who cleaned the cabin 90% of the time) if she preferred either colored floor. She just said she liked the dark floors the best.

The dark looks really good though.  I was just thinking with how small it is and we don't often wear shoes maybe dark would be ok too!

We have a teak n holly wood floor in our 342 and it looks great.

How hard was it to get the old carpet up and did you cut it around the steps or did you take them up?

Right, because chemically speaking, of the two vinyl is closer to diesel.

MD.....LMAO~.   We are using Allure vinyl from Home Depot, that is what all the samples are from.  

@raybo3 I will not say it was easy nor the hardest thing I ever done.  But I will say I struggled when I first started then decided to go grab my c clamp (seen in photo).  This allows you to get a good bite on the carpet and have a solid handle to pull up on.  The real stubborn areas I was able to get a bite then roll the carpet up on the jaws of the clamp.   I took it all up except right under stairs so far.  My stairs do not want to come out.  The screws at the top do not want to budge.  These here.   I started another thread looking for help on how to get them out.

I have considered this project.   I thought a scraper blade on a multifunction tool might work well.  Did you (or anyone else) try this?

Use diesel fuel just don't yank on wires harness behind your sub
it might just cut out those powerful dirty diesels

What brand and type of flooring are you putting down? I need to rip my old carpet out as well.

I think I would either come close to matching the cabinets or go completely opposite.

I would go teak/holly because I like the look and it's consistent with OEM flooring (low risk on harming resale value).

It wasn't easy, but it wasn't that hard.  All in all, I could have been home working on a lawnmower or the honey do list...   I wanted to go darker than the cabinets with out going black.  This is Allure ultra from Home Depot.  CInnamon Oak.  GRAND TOTAL:  $125 with new bolts for stairs.  The packs come in 20 sq each and you will use every bit of two.  Don't miss cut.  I also trimmed around the bump up in the floor because I don't like the look of the wood on there.  It looks like it is peeling up with the wood there.
