Replacement of Sony XM10 remotes

I have the Sony 705M stereo and i think its the Sony XM10 Remote Commander remotes on my 05 FV360.  The remote at the helm no longer works, however the swim platform one does.  These remotes are discontinued.  Does anyone know if you can use the newer remotes, X60, as a direct replacement or does it require rewiring?  And if so would i then need to replace my swim platform remote as well?

Also i tried to remove the remote and i can't figure out for the life of me how to get this thing off.  Access is very limited from behind, and it doesn't look like any portion of hte remote can be removed from the topside.  It may stay non functional if i have to remove the helm.

It would be great if you could just swap out with wireless RF remotes...

    Or does anyone happen to have a spare xm10 remote lying around.

    You can use the xm11, but it does not have a digital display. I just install that model to replace my Sony mrc-2 remote. The rmx60 does have a digital display, not sure if you will need the adapter or ave to run some additional wiring to use that one.
