Really, only $175?  The Admiral was hinting last weekend that we need to go that route, but I thought the cost was higher.

She wants it mainly because (1) white non-skid always ends up looking dirty, and (2) sunscreen overspray makes it slippery as heck.

Great job Randy. Want to know how much manufacturers charge for that? It would blow your mind!
  • rasburyrasbury Member Posts: 8,941 ✭✭✭✭✭
I really like it but I'm a bit confused with the process-first you put down what looks like a pretty thick material and then put a seadeck like surface on that? Why do you need the sub-surface? Really looks nice! And for that price too!

@rasbury......subsurface? You just clean the surface and then apply the seadek or EVA product....thats it.

It looks really nice!  Is there a guarantee on the adhesive?  Did you price material for the cockpit?

Yea seadek is around $750 for the swim platform. Can you post the link of where you got an alternative for $175? Thanks!

@rasbury.. My swim platform is same as yours just clean and wipe down with acetone. There are a lot of u-tube videos on how to install.
raybo3, The hardest part would be you have to provide drawings, I bought this in china, Hahaha, ya you have to email them drawing of what you want, If someone shares with you there drawing of 342 you could just forward them on that's what I did.
MD, it has a 3m backing sticky  sheet, peal and stick, no guarantee, on sticky or product. I'm taking that chance. From what I have read about EVA sheets they last 5-6 years.  It took about 2 weeks to get it after ordered. On the cockpit, I have not found drawing yet, may have to do drawing it myself. Kinda tricky, will have make it in more parts  that the carpet. The long one needs to be in 3-4 parts.

@Liberty44140 There are two of us that ordered from them that I know of, myself and jmichels, I had good luck J did'nt fare so well, sorry bout that. So you do not make the same mistake. Make sure if you get a drawing of your 342, it matches, your swim platform. I did have to trim/cut where the sheets meet in the middle, as there cut was not straight. But it was easy, straight edge and sharp razor blade knife. Yes I knew it was $750,
Here is email address. helen@melors.com -
    They do have different colors,
PS. If Helen try's to sell you on the idea, of selling you or sending you a sample. There is know need for that as it cost big $ to ship. If you want a sample I have extra"s I can cut and send you one. For any of you. PM your address. But knot until after Labor day weekend, I goin boatin!

Hey Randy, again looks great. Thanks for the info. I'm on the hunt for the platform layout for my 342. I know it changed so I'd need it for an 06.

@randy56.... Nice. I want to do mine too. But seadek is out of budget with all my other projects @ $175 I'd be all in!! Did you just do the swim platform and step for $175? Please let me know where purchased. Thanks.

@randy56 Oh, also where did you get the fender holders?

The material came from helen@melors.com China, Sea deck was out for me to. you will have to e-mail her. So far all I have done is platform and small step. It will take a few e-mails back and forth to get it ordered, they have different colors also. You will have to have drawings to e-mail them of your platform. The fender holders came with the boat, I'm not sure if it was an aftermarket product or Rinker put them on.
Mine is an 2003, not sure if the 2005 platform is the same.
You are more than welcome to use my name when talking with helen, and see if she still has my file and drawings.

randy56 Cool....Thanks for the info. I can't find any holders like that, just metal ones and I don't like the looks other than when mtg on rails.

I installed mine yesterday.  It is the EVA foam from Melors in China.  We will see how it holds up.

Looks great, where and how do you order? That's a 270.... Right?  What was the approx cost?
  • JonnyMJonnyM Member Posts: 332 ✭✭✭
I bought it off of Jmichaels.  He had the higher platform like you have on your 2004.  Mine is a 2003 but it was built in 2002 and I have the low platform.  The two platforms are similar but not the same.  You will need to find the CAD drawings for your platform and contact: helen@melors.com

@jpsayers, you should consider doing this to your platform. For the money, you can't beat it.

@JonnyM, you will love the feel on your feet, non slip. The little step going into cockpit, was slick when wet. Much better now. Good job on install.
