The DC area is looking at high winds from the north all weekend, which will blow the water out of the Potomac and the Chesapeake Bay for a few days.  It'll be too shallow for me to get out Sunday and Monday, and too windy even if I could get out.   

But we'll have great weather tonight, and I intend to make the best of it!

Why do TV weather reporters have to stand outside in waders up to their thighs, wearing Gorton's Fisherman's gear, in the middle of the hurricane? Just wondering.

@andyd....because they love to sensationalize the news - even weather. They are all competing to get their video on TV. We had a shameful (IMO) episode on the Weather Channel in Canada. One of the videographers and her husband were chasing tornadoes in the U.S. and she was rubbing her hands with glee about the size of it. I wrote in to the news channel and said "Doesn't that idiot know that the tornado has already destroyed a lot of lives. She and her storm chasing husband, should be ashamed of themselves!" Of course, I never heard back from them!

Yes, Handy you should know about richnadoes. Apparently one grabbed you up North and deposited you down South in the rich enclave of Cape Coral, Florida and then deposited a bank vault so you could build a 30K dock beside your pool and lanai...after remodelling your house! Some guys have all the luck!

Well, what are the best ways for weather-dudes to sell clicks?  Two ways:  1) "The weather will be sensationally good." 2) "The weather will be world-endingly terrible."  Our forecast has bounced from one to the other all week.  Now they have conceded to a "meh, not so bad" forecast.

Even though I'm in Alexandria, nobody here predicted a richnado.

I've never seen a TV reporter at the scene of a fire wearing a fire proof suit. Just an observation.
