planning to do oil changes and oil filters on my engines in the next couple of weeks. I plan to buy the Merc quicksilver 25w40 (4.5 qt per engine). Having a tough time on the right filter. Is this it? Or what is the right one?

I have used many brands but prefer the Mercruiser High EFFICIENCY. IMO for its price it is a superb filter as it was designed to be robust, filter out damaging micro content and have an anti-drain down capacity for oiled start-ups.

I do not believe it can be bettered for the price. Order it well in advance as the stock drops as winterization time approaches.

BTW. I ordered 4 at a time and half way through the next summer I would always spin-off the filters, install new ones and top-up my oil......a very nice way to just freshen-up your oil and filters in 10 minutes, mid-summer.

I use the same filter that @Michael T used. It is a very nice filter. I have also used the WIX filters that @Alswagg recommends.

Thanks guys. i'm really looking to confirm the right part number to order as I dont want to stick with whatever is already there as it may not be right. I think the link that I posted is indeed the right OEM filter. Will look for HE.
