Boatless.... and bummed

The old adage of the happiest days of a boat owners life does not apply to me today. Early this morning I met with the current owner of my last boat to finalize the transaction. I helped load the boat on a trailer and watched it leave for it's new home. I made my peace with the sale several days ago so in the aftermath of the event my spirits, while far from high, are no worse than dampened.
There is no doubt that it will be disappointing to be land locked on what promises to be a beautiful weekend in the Mid Atlantic. However, it will give me an opportunity to make headway on some of the many home projects on the Admiral's list. It will also give me more time to finalize the desired features of the next boat..... and to participate on the Forum.
I feel good about my old boat going to a new owner who seems to really enjoy boating. The connection was made through the Rinker Forum giving me another reason to be a thankful participant of our virtual community. He seems like a really good guy and I hope that his involvement with the Forum increases. Truth be told, I agreed to a price concession that exceeded minimum due in part to meeting him through the forum and feeling like the boat going to a good owner.
I am disappointed that I didn't get to participate in the VesselView Mobile beta test. Being away on vacation without access to my engine serial number at the time of Wally's initial offer prevented me from joining the first group. As such, I was slated to be part of the second group of testers. However, it appeared that my boat sale was imminent at the time Wally announced that he would soon be shipping to the next group of 10 beta testers. I sent Wally an email withdrawing my name since I would not be able to provide the feedback that I committed to. What happened next offers a little consolation. Shortly after receiving my email, Wally posted to the Forum that two spots remained open for the 2nd group. I quickly contacted the buyer of my boat, informed him of the opportunity to be a beta tester, and supplied him with the engine serial number. He contacted Wally and secured a spot in the second round of testers. Must be karma that the new owner ends up with VV Mobile regardless of me being in the middle. I am interested to hear of the product performance that the testers experience.
Anyway, I hope that everyone has a great weekend on the water or otherwise!
Regards,
MDboater

That's much better than what I did three years ago, which was to buy a boat in August and then be a two-boat owner for six months. Talk about being glad to see a boat go ...
And, by the same token, give some serious thought to buying your next boat now. You can work some serious price concessions this time of year (as you've already seen with your sale).
@mdboater hopefully this means you will have a larger Rinker at next year's Rendezvous! I'm not sure how I'd handle boatless (although one year it was out for 10 weeks). Good luck and yes this weekend is so beautiful we are playing hooky tomorrow as well.

I am the new owner of MD's boat. The whole experience couldn't have gone smoother. I went to the Rinker forum to check out how to troubleshoot an air conditioner problem on a friend's boat and I ended up buying a boat. I have boated in the Pittsburgh area pretty much all my life and I am looking forward to the extra room this boat provides. I look forward to participating in this form and learning valuable information.
MD,
Sorry I had to take away your boating weekends for this year. I'm sure you will find something soon. Good luck on the search!

The underwater lights that MD was having issues with look awesome in our water.
The last pic is on the dock next to my friend Rob's 270. This is the reason I bought the boat. It's his trailer too. It's awesome to have good friends.
