What is a good polishing/buffing tool

I'm looking at the Shurhold Orbital unit vs the non-orbital model polisher like DeWalt or Craftsman 9" variable speed.  I hear the non-orbit can be used wrong and damage the boat.

IMO orbital for car and non orbital for boat. I have a DeWalt variable and its a beast.

i do automotive paint for a living and i would not use anything but my dewalt variable speed. it will do anything you need it to do whether it be automotive paint or gel coat.

Used to spend a lot of time polishing on my custom cars.  Fell in love with torq products and specifically the 22d.  That brand and Rupes are considered really the best of the best in the show car world and I loved using it on the boat last month.  I combine that with Chemical Guys foam pads which come in about 6-7 different abrasive strengths and their marine products.  


Random orbital with a 21mm long throw, digital control with no trigger to hold, several plate sizes, and well balanced and easy to use for hours.  


Its all I used on the 1100 rwhp red monster I built that you see in the back of this pick.  Won a lot of best of shows with that polisher.  Lol

I bought this one from Bosch, it is adjustable with a switch under your thumb and it is MUCH lighter than others.  Makes a BIG difference after 4 or 5 hours of buffing and polishing.

The rod was actually a friends. Mine was the custom Red Camaro in the pic.  I bought it new as a factory 1LE car in 2013 and tore it down.  Lots of body mods inside and out sitting on a radically altered chassis with a whipple blown 427 motor that put down 1100 rear wheel horsepower.  Oh and I kept it a stick shift car.  Lost my **** when I sold it...lol

Yea it was a tough decision but I saw a lot of risk coming down the pipeline with my business and had a chance to sell it so I did.

I have a few Ryobi one+ tools and was given the 10" and 6" units for Father's Day. Great units, work with batteries I have, good speed and light so great for down low at dock level. And if like me you want to do in water in season then safer because there's no 110 if you drop it accidentally. Tool is done but you aren't!
