What Moisture Meters will work without breaking the bank

I would like to buy a moisture meter but see them range from under $50 to over a few hundred dollars.  Some below $100 state it can measure through materials as state; 

• The water leak detector has separate settings for drywall, masonry, softwoods and hardwoods
• Moisture detection tool has a 3/4 inch (20mm) maximum sensing depth and +/-4% accuracy on wood
• Wood working tool is auto-calibrating and operates on 9V battery; 2-inch diagonal backlit LCD screen and a 3-color LED bar graph.      

Can I use these on a boat hull?

Handy, that's the one I was looking at to buy.  Just would like to feel better knowing if this would work.

I read a guy used it on his boat right behind the surveyor. Matched his high dollar unit

And if it dont work, take it back LOL

they can be used on certain boat hulls and decks acurrately.
