After most of the lights burning out on my panel, I found LED replacements. Was not easy!
Found them at Specialty Optical Systems in Dallas.
Part info:
SOS 1MB-W-28
6V-28V BA9S LED White 1-Chip Dome
There is a 'shorter' bulb version, not required though. I think they were ~$5 each. It takes 17 bulbs to do the whole panel. They light up just fine, cooler and of course should last about forever.

Raybo, I hear you. I guess my whole point is I may use it the entire weekend for maybe 30 seconds if at night I forgot to turn a breaker on when I got to the boat that I needed on. So, that one time I turn it on to see a breaker, then I turn it off cause I won't need to flip anymore until maybe the next day. So, not any more on/off than someone that leaves it on.
BD, I would think leaving them on overnight (at least while anchoring) would draw some power. Maybe you just do it on shore power.
Anyway, didn't mean to make a big deal either way, it's just something I don't see a whole lot of people turn on & when they do, it's just for a minute. Also have never seen anyone have them burn out. I'm sure mine will now that I'm talking about them.

Critical lighting circuits like airfield lighting systems have a slow increase of current at switch on. You may not see it but it's there by design.
