Question: how does that stabilizer fin work? I tried one (Stingray brand) on my 190 Rinker 350 mag and it made the boat squirrely. I assume it works for you to jump on plane then at that point it is out of the water..... and also stabilizes the boat at low speed cruising, like around 1100RPM?

cooler rack/ cutting board and rod holders but that was the 270.now the 342???.I think I'll fix what's broke 1st the worry about up grades.

Randy why would you need the fin if you have trim tabs???

@MT and @raybo3 , When I first bought the boat, I was trying to help plane time, Started reading reviews on these types of finns. Picked the one with the best reviews. Well it did not help at all!  wish i did not put it on, as this model you have to drill holes, to install.  They may work on smaller boats. Lesson learned.
@Handymans342, The PO kept in it in a huge marina, in the water, no lift.  inherited problem.

@reneechris14, after the repaint, I only had the boat out once, for a day cruse of about 40 miles. It still looked good. When pulled out of the water. Hoping it sticks.

Randy why not take it off and fill the holes with permatex metal filler... Stuff works great... This video is a sample of how it works.

When I pulled the trim fin off my drive, primed the holes, phantom black painted the holes then installed black plastic  automotive caps with finned extensions that push and snap into a hole. They were available in a lot of hole diameter sizes. Then I just used a box cutter to cut the extended piece off flush with the underside of the anti-cavitation plate. Super fast repair that lasted. If I can find one I'll post a picture.

@randy56, I can't open your post but from the description of your link I think you found them!

Mine had thin round caps with a post with fins attached. You just snapped them into the holes. The posts came in different diameters. They lasted for years then I sold the drive and replaced it with a Bravo 1. Last I heard they were still good.

The best feature was that being plastic they never corroded and the fins held them in place. They looked oem. You would never have guessed they didn't come from the factory like that.

I'll see if I can find one tonight. If it's still in its bag I'll post a part number

Does that "whale tale" looking thing prevent porpoising?  I have a problem where at certain speeds and trim levels the front of the boat starts bouncing...

@J3ff, No that thing does not do $hit. LOL You are just trimed to high, or tab down a bit.

Yeah... I figured... problem with tabbing down is that when I handed the boat to the shop to replace the engine both tabs worked. When I got it back the port side does nothing.  At this point it's only in till Dec 1st, so I'm tabless for the rest of the season... which reminds me I did mean to find the fuse/breaker... are they seperate breakers or are both tabs on the same one?

@J3ff. Its probably your actuator, Or behind your new engine,is a terminal block were the actuator's are connected. Check to see if you have a lose wire there since it worked before. Here is diagram. http://www.lectrotab.com/images/wiringDiagramSAFSsingleStation.jpg

@randy56 did you have to sand the drive before applying the primer and paint? If you did how much of the old paint you had to remove? What did you used to clean the props? They look new.

@califco, First let me say, I think sand blast is best, but not having one and not wanting to buy one here is what was done.  I pressure washed with roto tip on pressure washer.  Using a spray bottle,  cleaned and scrubbed with hull cleaner a a couple times and pressure washed between scrubbing . Then used the toilet bowl cleaner an scrubbed couple times and pressure washed again. It was very clean at this point. Let it dry, Then hand sanded with drywall sponge sander to scuff all painted area's. Blew off with air compressor before paint. Then taped up all SS nuts so they would not get painted.  The props the same way, except no sanding. It took about 4 hours and a couple beers. Assembled and Put props back on the next day. The props were a new install the spring.

@randy56 thanks for the details, I'm planning to do the same before the start of the next season, I will have to double the beer consumption tho.
I used the toilet cleaner before on the bow area to remove spider and bird droppings, it works pretty good.
