Geeze Mercruiser, do you think you could have put just a few more sharp spots on the top of the engine, wow I feel like I have been in an Iron Maiden just winterizing the boat.  6 hoses and 2 drain plugs, took all of an hour but when laying on bed of nails its more like a week. 
Lesson learned   That piece of scrap carpeting that is in the corner of the basement with the word BOAT  spraypainted on it should not be forgotten when it comes time to winterize

Agreed, I felt like, I had an a$$ whoopin the next day after winterizing. We are getting old my friend.

Cut marks from the sharp edges of ring clamps all over your arms and torn T shirts are the sign of a RINKER boatin' man! .....however if you want nice baby smooth arms, you can buy black rubber ring clamp ends from Mercruiser and use your Admiral's Oil Of Olay.......then you too can look like a Sea Ray owner

I use a movers pad laid across the engines nowadays when it's the position of choice/need. Got tired of the multiple penetrations and lacerations before it hit my chest cavity. Plus I always managed to lean on the head of a screw in my shoulder that sticks up a bit with the hardest part of the engine that .... hurts a tad

Imagine how my mechanic felt laying across the engine to replace the high pressure fuel pump which is on the bottom of the engine.  Ouch.

This is exactly why I have a mechanic.

I did a starter on my 270....that's a standing on your head job! On the bottom...saw in the manual some are on the top of the 350 MPI...was not my luck!
