Captiva 196 Fender Pfender Pro Cleat

Just bought a 2012  Captiva 196 Bowrider.  I want to fit two Pfender Pro (fender) Cleats above the rub rail.  To do this it would be great if I  could remove the bow seat backs to tighten the nuts once the cleats have been drilled and bedded.   The seat backs seem to be very firmly affixed.  Is there a reasonably easy way to remove them?

Not sure about the 2012 models, but in my 2002 model the seat backs are just clipped on. You need to tap them up from the bottom and they will come right off. However, at that point you will be faced with the sealed interior surface that the seat clips are attached to. I suppose that you can cut some access holes that will be covered up once you reattach the seat backs.

@Alswagg might know how to get them off. Usually if you pull them straight up, they will come off. There could also be screws in the seams or along the bottom of the seatback.

Thanks, guys.  This boat is new to me (in fact all powerboats are new to me; been sailing racing sailboats for 25 yrs.).  I did find the screws and bumped the cushions up and lo and behold...   I'm thinking a deck plate would give me sealable access but think I ought to just make a peep hole on the helm side to make sure i don't cut into any wiring/instruments/etc.  Any suggestions.  John

Hunky, I've installed twist n lock deck plates before, they have differant sizes, the one i used was 4 inch and bought a 4 inch hole saw to cut the hole. They also have a screw on cover plate that works also. About half as much money. they work well also. I could get my arm in the hole to work.

Those deck plates are going to sit proud and make putting the seat backs back on difficult.....

Might need to simply clean up the access holes, seal the fiberglass edges with epoxy and let the seat backs be the covers. Obviously that means you need to make sure that the access holes are completely within the area covered by the seat backs, but you would want to do that in any case.
