2001 Captiva 232 chartplotter location

Merry Christmas everyone.

So Santa brought me a great gift this year. Its a Lorance HDS 7 Chartplotter. Does anyone have a good suggestion on the best place to mount it? Currently I have the VHS radio mounted above the gauges and the old smaller chartplotter mounted on a Ram Mount swing arm assembly located on the starboard wall in front of the throttle. With the dash/gauge cluster having contours and the VHS on the left side, there is no decent place left to mount the chartplotter. Anyone have a good solution?

I would remount the VHF radio on the underside of the right side of the dash and RAM mount the chartplotter above the key/fuel gauge side of the helm. You will look at the chartplotter more than the VHF radio and left side gives you a better viewing angle.

BTW, DVD's take up much less space than the VHS player. Can you still get tapes for them?

I agree with Greg.  Mount the VHF underside on right, and GPS on left side in front of ignition on a stand.
