I have a 2004 Rinker 270 and looking to improve the holeshot and mid range, has anyone tried the new four by four propellers? right now I have a 22 pitch 3 blade, if I try the new four by four,  would I stay with the same pitch of 22?

@johnp116, Having the same boat, I changed mine to 4X3 21 pitch, instead of 22. made a nice difference, I can now pull water skier. The 4 blade prop really digs in, my top speed did not change.

I'd contact Hill marine directly and see what their exchange policy is if you dont get the benefits you're looking for. I know alot of 270 owners complain about planing times with the 350 MAG, so I'm sure it'll help a good amount.

My 276 cuddy with the 4x3 22.5 pitch pops right on plane, but if I ever damaged my prop I'd try the 4x4 to see if I could get even better performance.

John I did talk to Hill marine this past summer. I have a 2005 270 and Hill Marine said purchase 4x4 set with 21 pitch. I did not buy them yet because it was late in the year. I think I'm going to purchase before I put in water in spring. You can exchange them for different pitches but no complete returns

Hill Marine will exchange for different pitch you pay shipping.I put 20p 4×4 on my 2002 270 made a huge difference but jacked the rims a bit for cruse speed.

You have a 383 (stroker),with the extra horses you should stay with 22,higher cruse speed, lower rpm at cruse, better fuel economy.

sounds good - I'd actually love to test out a few different four blades...

I'm assuming Hill Marine is the only place to go for this? Free exchange and everything?  Would love if there was an east coast option with the same deal... could test a bunch of them.. shipping across the country and back will add up fast.

300 mpi, we had  discussed this before on another thread but I cannot remember where it is. I'll search for it.

    Randy56 got to 37mph don't remember rpm.my cruise speed was 28ish at about 3900
the 22s 3x3 came in at 28ish 3700.but a bear to get on plane with the low swim platform.the guy in Maryland(forgot his name) said shipping took a couple of weeks.

With the stock 3x3 22p it seem like forever to get on plane, It seemed like the boat was under powered, The time really wasn't that long ,but coming from smaller craft it seem like for ever. So the biggest improvements for me going with the 4x3 21p was:

    1. I'm able to pull water skier. Would not even try before. My son at 185 lbs 2 ski's took 6 second's to pop him up.
    2. I can cruse at 3600 RPM @ about 26-28 mph and still stay up on plane instead of 4000 RPM 400 rpm will save fuel in long distance runs.
    3. Top speed remained the same 38 mph, however I only do it once a month for a mile or so. No bottom paint, clean hull.
    4. Up on plane in a reasonable time, tabs all the way down of course.

I want #2 on your list. 4000 rpm seems way too much for cruising..
