Looks great Handy! Jeff that isn't the A98 is it? That's actually not a bad idea. I could then leave my c80, put my a98 there and have redundancy beyond my iPad. Where did you find that mount that goes in the cup holder?
It looks fantastic. Anybody with a 342 should be looking at this as a model for how to do it right.
If the boat had proper gas engines, she'd be perfect.
She does Larea. They are made by Yanmar. Haven't you ever heard of those?
Actually with the new head unit I can replace the sending units with digital and they would read out right there but I like the accuracy of the old Fiaras.
Looks nice Handy! Now you need to clean up those gold rings around the gauges! I remember those on my old 310. What a PITA they were to keep clean! I can only imagine it's worse in salty air.
I now see that's a dragonfly 7". I wonder if the a98 would fit on my boat. I'll have to do some testing.
I went with the DF7 because it's got some neat wifi things...
1. you can connect it to a tablet, so the tablet can show one thing (sonar) while the main unit can show the chart...
2. It will take the actual readings and report back to the navionics server and update that part of the chart for everyone..
there's some other things it does but other than those two I havent read up much..
The adapter is actually just a piece of starboard cut into a circle, a notch for cables and then I wrapped it with electrical tape a few times and pushed it down into the cup holder... it's as strong as anything else.. then again, I don't boat in the open ocean... not sure what size waves the 270 can handle, probably wouldn't want to do more than 6 or so feet right? The point is the mount, the way I did, isn't something I consider as ready for the open ocean..
I did it the quick and dirty way today... not totally sold on this setup, but it'll do I guess. Not impressed that there's no way to quickly disconnect it from the mount.
J3ff....I have a 272 Captiva and want to do the same thing with my helm cupholder there for my chartplotter as I have no other real options. What did you use for a mount in the cupholderight?
EDIT: I didn't finish reading the thread...I see what you did...lol
