4. oil level. There is a sensor that will stop the engine if oil is low. 5. engine temp. Another sensor that shuts down if over heating. The impeller inside the motor failed on mine. The pin disintegrated so the shaft spun but the impeller didn't.
That is usually a problem on the electrical side of the unit, not the motor. Still change the plugs and do the things mentioned above but the first step on electrical issues is to replace the brushes and fuses.

The genset runs when the starter button is kept down. The moment the button is released , the engine dies.
