I've thought about this. I think it would need to be a screen door that has a 2" perimeter of Sunbrella and snaps inside the door way so that the door can still easily open and close. Then a zipper down the middle so that you can go in and out easily.
The shape of the opening makes it pretty tough. I've seen some boats where the companionway door had a hinged opening that revealed a screen. The upside is the better air flow. But there is a little bit of a privacy issue. Now maybe if the screen was just on the top of the opening versus the vertical part of the door. @Liberty44140 idea for a canvas-like piece having a screen embedded would be interesting.
Yep, that link @summerx posted is right on what I was thinking, just snaps inside the door so that the door can be easily closed. this is not on my list to do but if we needed it, thats what I would do. We dont need it but I've thought about it when I've seen boats that have a sliding screen inside the sliding door.
I thought about that when he asked as I recall seeing it on TV..probably could make something like that work pretty well with some snaps to mount it or something...
