2005 FV 270 Transom door catch

Currently, the "catch" to keep the door in the open position is just a canvas snap and stud... 

Has anyone replaced this with something better/nicer?  Any photos?  

Looking for ideas as one end broke on mine and thought it might be good to replace with something nicer.

You are talking about the rear door right? Mine too! I will watch this with interest as well....guess it works and it's cheap but mine got real hard to un snap and pulled out of the fiber glass....I'd put a hook or something there but someone would catch their leg on it...perhaps the larger boats have something more "fancy" we can glom on!

Huh......mine has a little bullet shaped stud on the door, and a little spring clip on boat to keep it open.....i thought it looked factory?

Mine is also the same and looks like it could break any minute now.  I was going to put in a beefier snap.

that sounds like a good idea.....I assume the spring clip is pretty flat against the side....but the bullet stud, how does it not interfere with closing the door??

Snaps also tend to get fussy if the door isn't aligned just right.  The bullet type of door catch tends to be more reliable, meaning you can just open the door without thinking about it.  Here's an example:

I must have ordered something from Defender last year because they sent me a catalog. Sometimes it is nice to look thru a catalog rather than trying to find it on the interweb.

I like that bullet type catch. Good idea. When installing does it have to be perfectly aligned or does it have some wiggle room?

Would've liked to find it in stainless, but this has held up extremely well.

I've been looking for a magnetic solution... seems like they are all 70+ bucks..
