Gas tank gauge-Rinker 360 ec - 2014

So, since I bought the boat used, only one tank showed- the starboard tank- and only went to 100 gal.  I figured that the tanks equalized and when it said 43 gallons, I had actuall 80 plus gallons- well- ran out of gas and had to be towed back to marina! So, anyone else w this problem- what is the reserve? Easy to get fixed? Thanks!

Do you have all the fuel valves open correctly  for the engines to access both tanks ?
