I have 4 pioneer 6.5 speakers currently all powered by pioneer head.
2 in cabin and 2 on main deck
thinking about adding 2 8 inch pioneer to main deck and powering all 4 with amp and cabin with unit.
any thoughts or suggestions

So far so good - the head unit powers them loud enough that it's too loud!
I do feel ya on the amp
my old boat needed a start and charge while on the water after three hours
@zaverin1 if you are looking for suggestions on amps, gethtis JL Audio amp below. Its about as big as a brick but the power is unreal and its only $220. I am putting 3 of them in my boat. They make different variations of it so you can increase in the power as well. Takes very little power and they are completely sealed units. I plan on mounting mine on the bulkhead in the engine compartment.

I replace the amp in my 280 some years ago and got an amp from the Stereo guy in Gibraltar Trade Center. I actually got one too small, tried it, hated it and took it back. He gave me full credit for an upgrade.

I have the 6.5 in stock locations now
8 inch speakers will go where 280 has the small storage compartments on each side
i don't use them anyway lol
plus it will
axct like a good speaker enclosure once the front custom cover and speakers are in
Here is the install I just did on my 270. I used the factory wiring set up for the old factory amp. The cabin speakers run off the head unit.
