Engine repower

i have a 2002 rinker fiesta vee. The guy before me put a Mercruiser 5.0 mpi   Engine tops at about 23 mph sometimes pinned no more than 15 knts  i sent my boat to get repowered with a mercruiser 383 stroker   About how much should this cost me ? The guy told me over phone 12500 sound right?

    My total came to more like 15000, but I went with the 383 fresh water cooled.  What model are you talking about?  If it's a 270 there are other problems with the boat if it tops out at 23 mph.. even with the 350 ci I was up around 40..

    5.0 is a pretty small engine for that boat I would think.

    That's about what I paid for mine. The 350 MAG was tired and slow when it died in my 1999.  Per J3ff, check for dragging swim platform. It's a whole new boat with the 383, definitely glad I did it.
