Hatch opener

My name is Bill I bought a 2005 -   282 bowrider and it has a hatch opener switch on the dash. It was working perfect then all of a sudden it quit, The only way to open the engine hatch is to jump on the posts by the battery switch. My question is there any kind of fuse or link between the switch and the opener .  If you jump the post it opens perfect so I would say it would have to be a switch , fuse or some sort of braker .  Please advise . I would start at the switch and jump around the switch to see if it opens.  If not, then it's in the wiring or fuse (although I'd think the fuse would also protect it at the posts).
